Zlatan Ibrahimovic has flown back from America following his successful knee surgery.
The 35-year-old underwent an operation on his cruciate ligament after he injured himself in the 2-1 win against Anderlecht last month and is expected to be out until January.
The Swede is out of contract at Old Trafford in the summer and although it is highly unlikely that he will play for United again it is believed that Jose Mourinho has offered him the Manchester United facilities to recover from his injury.
His next career move is yet to be decided but he is definitely returning to Europe in the meantime as he was pictured on a private jet with his former team mate and friend Ignazio Abate.
The pair played together at AC Milan for two years where they struck up a close friendship.
Alongside the picture of the duo relaxing on the private jet Abate wrote ‘With the bomber travelling comfortable and spacious … # backhome.’
Abate is also currently injured after an eye injury he picked up in February.
Ibrahimovic spent six years living in Italy while playing for Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan so could be choosing to spend part of his recovery back in Italy.
The striker has been keeping fans up to date with his recover with an Instagram post following surgery that said: ‘Fixed, done and stronger. Once again thank you for the support. We will enjoy my game together soon.’
Although he will obviously not be playing he is expected to be Stockholm next Wednesday for the Europa League final with Mourinho suggesting Ibrahimovic could accompany Wayne Rooney to collect the trophy should United win.
Ibrahimovic’s Manchester United career is expected to over as it is understood he has rejected a contract extension out of pride.
